Commodore’s Note
Latest COVID restrictions
You will now be aware of the latest restrictions announced this week which come into force on Monday September 14th. From the Club’s perspective the only impact will be if groups of people (not taking part in an organised sporting event) congregate in either compound for any reason – this must now obviously not exceed 6 people – so please be aware that you may just have to wait to prepare/launch/put away or work on your boats.
All of the Club restrictions still apply and as a reminder regarding the Clubhouse;
The bar is open to MEMBERS ONLY – please ensure you respect social distancing at all times.
The parlour is open to MEMBERS ONLY – no food or drink preparation or use of any utensils etc
The toilets are restricted to one person at a time.
I am also very conscious that we have not been able to reschedule the cancelled AGM, in fact we were discussing it at the Committee meeting on the 7th September. We were considering looking at October, and following the RYA specifications for a ‘hybrid meeting’ (part ZOOM and part acceptable number of people in a room) however, in light of the above changes that idea will have to be shelved. Watch this space!
Other business
Mooring Matters – we are sorry (indeed devastated!) to report that Ted Brightly and Tony Jiggins will be hanging up their hats at the end of the season with regard to assisting the Mooring Master, and indeed some members, with their moorings. We will sorely miss them as they have been a tremendous help, indeed, invaluable. If there is anyone out there who could step into their shoes then please contact Russell on 07840611490 or email him at moorings@stoursailingclub.co.uk
Russell has asked that all mooring holders take heed of the mooring regulations with regard to their moorings especially as winter approaches;
Moorings must comply with the specifications provided by the Moorings Master. The responsibility for the laying of a mooring and its maintenance is solely that of the mooring licence holder.
Jo Pavey is stepping down as Social Secretary, her only excuse is that she is expecting a baby at the beginning of December! Seriously, she has been excellent at organising our events and I would like to thank her very much for all of her support, in return, I will be very happy to babysit!
Lift out and Storage if you haven’t got your application in yet then hurry – deadline is 25th September!
If you have any concerns, questions, etc please let me know.
Stay safe out there and look after yourselves.
