Commodore’s Note

Once again it is with great sadness that I must advise you of the death of another member of the Club.

Duncan (Jock) Cook passed away on the 8th August at the age of 91 years old.  He had been a member of the Club for many, many years who really loved his sailing, in his boat Jay Cee.  He was extremely supportive and encouraging to the younger members of the Club, acting as a mentor guiding these youngsters, some of whom are still keen sailors to this day.

I have also got to announce that Richard will not be standing for re-election next year as Honorary Treasurer.  He had planned to step down this year after serving on the Committee for nearly 6 years but, and how lucky was I, he decided to remain on the Committee for one last year.

It is so like Richard to always think of others and he has declared his intentions well in advance so that a new Treasurer can shadow him to get used to everything without being thrown in at the deep end – never a comfortable position to be in!

So, if you would like to chat to Richard about the role please do contact him at treasurer@stoursailingclub.co.uk or ring him on 07714846204

Dates for the Diary

  • Great River Race 8th September – 2 Manningtree boats entered

  • Cake and Coffee 19th September at 10.30 – all welcome

Please note the Club website is constantly being reviewed and updated so please do make use of it.
