On Bank Holiday Monday – the 28th May the Club held a Push the Boat Event as part of the national RYA initiative to get people to try sailing in May. At the Stour Sailing Club people could try sailing and also kayaking, rowing, fishing and just being out on the water on a motor boat, all accompanied by cake and coffee and with a barbeque to follow. In addition we also formally launched our new second safety boat bought with the help of a £10,000 grant from the Sport England Lottery Fund and additional funding from the Club.
The weather was glorious, although we could have done with a little more wind for sailing and people came, and kept coming. When we last ran the event in 2016 35 people came, this time well over 100 hundred people came, and we had 50 Club members helping out either on or off the water.
It was a fantastic and very busy day, and many thanks are due to all of those Club members who contributed to the day – and of course to the members of the public who came along and joined in.
