OK, nothing is perfect and like everything, we can always do better, but this weekend was pretty impressive in my view!!
It was the Thames Great River Race on Saturday and we fielded both a mens veterans team, and a ladies (definitely NOT veteran!) team, and they both did rather well – so congratulations to all involved and for all the effort involved in getting people and boats to the right place at the right time (and back again!) – Well Done!
In pretty testing conditions, the Micro Worlds also took place this weekend, including a competitor all the way from Beaulieu! There was some very close racing and some very hard earned results, particularly in the blustery conditions on Sunday which at times, were nearer a survival test than one design racing!
If that is not enough, we also had a well attended club cruise to Suffolk Yacht Harbour and an evening in the light ship! There was a great mix of vessels, and again, given the weather at times it was an impressive effort on everyone’s part!
Lastly, we had at least one yacht racing in the Pinmill Regatta owned by a club member, and crewed by several more – by all accounts it was a great race, so fingers crossed for a good result!
So, to everyone that organised, assisted with, or took part in the many events this weekend, give your selves a big ‘Pat on the Back’ – it makes the Stour Sailing Club the great club it is!!
WELL DONE TO ALL !
