Good Afternoon

And what a lovely sunny mild day it is too, so enjoy.

It’s been a while since I did a blog however, I have tried to keep you all informed on matter of importance by separate e mails.

Without reiterating, I will cover some of the snippets from local and regional things that I hope may be of interest.

Some extracts from the HASA newsletter which is Harwich Area Sailing Association and many of which we actually provided the detail on are of particular interest and of high importance which has also received press, radio, and tv coverage of the Manningtree mermaids’ swimmers campaign reaching the public consultation stage for bathing water designation.

This is where our area will hopefully receive regular monitoring from the Environmental Agency during the bathing water seasons. We as a club support this and offer all or any assistance that is required to support this very important environmental necessity.

Save the date is also slightly in advance but the RYA are offering their cruising conference again at the Royal Hospital School on 24th November 24 for members of Affiliated clubs. Members can attend and be involved in interesting and interactive sessions broaden their knowledge and maintain current awareness of the changing regulations.

Also, the 62nd Pin mill Barge match is on 29th June something to be aware of if your planning being in the Harwich estuary or travelling down the Orwell during that time.

Now is the time when Trinity House and HHA will be issuing notices of putting back various buoyage and aids to navigation which have been removed over the winter seasons I shall notify you of these as and when they are received of anything local.

I shall be attending a meeting next week with the HHA and IPA and Area Leisure Vessels meeting where one of the topics will be dredging of the Estuary and the dumping of spoil with drifted silt, some f this has found itself down as far as Manningtree and affecting our depths and especially within the Mistley channel area from Ballast Hill to the Quay Where dredging operations have been going on over the winter months. Will report back after the meeting of actions that they will be immediately taking however it’s all at discussion stages at this moment in time.

Social times still being held in the club Bar and is available on normal opening times, Wed and Fri evenings proving still a popular place to be, Richards Games night and cribbage seems to have a strong following presently.

Coffee and cake also coming up for the 20th March and the C&C team will be pleased to see you all.

There is a washed up broken loose dinghy on the beach, this was put out on club groups chat, but these do not reach the full coverage of our membership, so if you think it may be yours or you know of someone who has lost one, I suggest you retrieve it soon.

Don’t forget If your changing things out on your boat what better way to dispose of the redundant items but to maybe sell them on. If you have anything that you believe that maybe would have further life to give and would suitable for a saleable item maybe please draft an advert with the details and a picture must be jpeg and e mail to Membership@stoursailingclub.co.uk and we can get it on the website. May help with the new purchase.  (NO TOOT please)

AGM packs for Mon 25th and info also are due to be available soon and will be sent out as a separate e mail and or from the web site.

Your renewals of memberships are also due now and invoices are being sent out as we speak, don’t forget to check the details that you previously gave are still current so that we do hold the appropriate and correct records for you.

So, Lets hope the sunshine stays with us for the weekend and it gives us all that extra bit of time to maybe check Moorings, Chains and links, Buoys, or do some maintenance in the boat yard, or if you can’t be bothered just go to the bar!?

All the best for now
