The Sailing Club was ‘only’ established in 1936 but back in the 19th Century there was a Manningtree and Mistley Boat Club based at Mistley. Rowing featured heavily in early regattas and ‘Water Carnivals’ on the river with extremely closely contested racing (Link here to article ). Rowing (apart from rowing tenders!) faded away for many years, but came back to the Club when four female club members brought the first Claydon Skiff to Manningtree in 2008.
