Pontoon Winter Usage
Winter Pontoon Useage
In addition to the Pontoon Usage system in operation during the summer months, a limited number of berths may be available during the winter months for longer term storage:-
Terms and Conditions:
i) Over-wintering or long term winter berthing (normally on the inside area of the pontoons) may be applied for in advance by application to the Pontoon and Quaysides manager. Applications are best made when members are requested to confirm their winter lifting and compound storage requirements.
ii) There is no guarantee space will be available and/or approved. Priority will be based on membership years, with the type of vessel also being factored in when possible.
iii) The winter period starts one week after lift out, and ends one week before lift in with no exceptions. By applying for a winter berth and occupying it, you are agreeing to adhere to these T's & C's, and to vacate the berth allocated when required and without delay. There may/may not be additional caveats applicable to any winter berthing offered, such as the need to vacate the pontoon for maintenance etc.
iv) Successful applicants accept that other vessels wintering on the pontoon may prevent vessel movements, so please bear in mind you may not be able to leave until one week before lift in at the latest, unless other owners are in a position to accommodate you.
v) The current cost is set at £300 paid in advance, and requesting space confirms you are willing to pay this fee. The fee represents 2 months berthing at normal member rates (the minimum period normally considered a longer term winter berth to be), so a stay for the entire winter period is capped at that '2 month rate' even though they may stay for several months.
vi) Wintering on the pontoon is ONLY available to members vessels that are moored in the Manningtree Area and on club managed moorings, which therefore demands that adequate insurance is already held. We would suggest you also check your insurance policy, or contact your insurers, if staying afloat all winter.
vii) The suitability of all vessels being over-wintered by their owners remains entirely the responsibility of the owner at all time. The Stour Sailing club IS NOT responsible for any damage to an owners vessel however caused, and adequate insurance must be maintained at all times to cover any third party claims for damage.
viii) Electricity is not routinely available but if it is requested, it will be made available via a metered facility and charged accordingly.toon
