Sunken Yacht at Kirby Creek

Visitors to Kirby creek need to be aware of this sunken yacht.

The special purposes Yellow Mark is just metres to the north of the wreck. Hull length 22 feet.

It is believed the wreck was anchored in this position.

Dover Coastguard is aware and broadcasting a local Hazard Warning with their scheduled Safety Broadcasts.

The owner of the vessel is in communication with the authorities regarding recovery but we are unsure how long it will be before the situation is resolved.

Kirby Creek is a favourite with visitors and regularly included in summer dinghy racing and events such as:

  • Old Gaffers Association Swallows & Amazons Weekend 26-28 July
  • W&FYC Cadet Week 12-16 August
  • W&FYC ­­­ - Dinghy Week 26-30 August
